Barack Obama's Chicago Presidential Library

Obama’s Presidential Library needs to reflect a man, a vision, and a legacy. In this proposal, Architecture is a mere tool that finds a way for this project to blur into the Chicago urban context and stand out as a unique and intriguing element. It provides the city with a place beyond its function and physical limits. As a result, a new public, open, community-oriented place emerges with a breakthrough concept. Its main intentions:

BRIDGING between different cultures, nations, and individuals.

PLATFORMS, the library arises as an active, informative, and educational space.

ENGINE for new generations to be involved, for citizens to be a part of it, and for future generations to acknowledge.

A new typology that embraces a local and global scale portrays a complex and exciting relationship between different activities and functions. This new public realm promotes social gatherings and cultural events, inviting participation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Obama’s Presidential Library is a living library that defines a fresh start and envisions one hopeful future.
